Meet Captain Hook – Hen Wen’s Feathered Flying Legend! 🦅
At Hen Wen Caravan Site, breakfast comes with a show.
While you're tucking into your breakfast and first cup of coffee, our resident buzzard, Captain Hook, is already hard at work searching for his own breakfast!
A familiar sight above the site, Captain Hook can often be seen soaring effortlessly overhead, riding the thermals and scanning the fields below with incredible precision. Then, in a flash, he swoops down to hunt before returning to his nest right here on site.
For many of our guests, spotting Captain Hook is one of the highlights of their stay. There's something truly magical about watching a wild bird of prey performing its daily routine just metres away from your pitch.
And the action doesn't stop there.
Hen Wen's skies are alive with some of Britain's most spectacular birds of prey. Alongside Captain Hook, visitors regularly spot red kites gliding elegantly overhead and kestrels hovering like tiny helicopters as they search for prey in our fields.
It's nature's very own aerial display — and the best part? There's no ticket required.
Whether you're a keen birdwatcher, a wildlife photographer, or simply someone who enjoys the great outdoors, keep your eyes on the skies during your stay. You never know what might fly past next.
Top Tip đź‘€
Bring a pair of binoculars and enjoy breakfast outdoors. Captain Hook is often at his busiest in the morning, making it the perfect time to catch a glimpse of Hen Wen's unofficial mascot in action.
So next time you're staying with us, don't forget to look up. Captain Hook and his feathered friends are ready to put on a show!
Have you spotted Captain Hook during your stay? Share your photos with us—we'd love to feature them on our page! 📸🦅✨
